The Girl from Charnelle (William Morrow/Harper Collins 2006), K. L. Cook’s new novel, revisits the Texas Panhandle, the Tate family, and the emotional territory he first explored in his award-winning collection of linked stories, Last Call.

Book Tour Article in Poets & Writers

K. L. Cook’s article, “On the Road: The Do-It-Yourself Book Tour,” appeared in the November/December issue of Poets & Writers. The article chronicles Cook’s 10,000-mile, 10-week, multi-state book tour for Last Call, which he embarked on with his family in the fall of 2004. Highlights include visits to a 6th-grade class during Homecoming and a reading for inmates in a Texas prison.

New Stories

Three new short stories by K. L. Cook — “Chalk Dust on a Dress,” “The Couple Upstairs,” and “First Birth” — were published in the Fall 2005 issue (#14) of Arts & Letters: Journal of Contemporary Culture. A review of Cook’s collection of linked stories, Last Call, was also published in this same issue.
